Mission and Values

Our Mission

Our mission is to elevate mental health to its rightful place in society by creating a movement where helpers, givers, and fixers value ourselves, prioritize our needs, set consistent boundaries, take accountability, practice self-compassion, and serve from a place of overflow. We believe that caring for ourselves is the most essential, authentic, powerful, and rebellious thing that we can do.

Our Objectives

We help our clients understand and change their patterns over functioning, perfectionism, people-pleasing, burnout, anxiety, and depression. Therapy with us is a journey of learning about who you are, what you need and want, and where your limits and boundaries are. It is a journey toward self-compassion, self-awareness, and self-discovery.

Our Values

Compassion

We lead with compassion for ourselves, our clients, our community, and the world. Compassion is a constant practice to let go of shame, guilt, perfectionism, and othering. It is moving toward our suffering and whole selves with acceptance and shared humanity.

Authenticity

We believe that being real and honest with ourselves, practicing self-awareness, taking accountability, tuning into our intuition, setting boundaries, and being present in relationships are our highest calling and purpose as humans.

Growth

We believe that we are never finished learning, stretching, failing, expanding, and transforming. Mistakes, set backs, and ruptures are welcomed parts of the process.

Audacity

We believe in doing things differently, speaking truth, being courageous, seeking justice, challenging the status quo, and empowering people to live up to their fullest potential.

Our Origin Story

Our President and Owner, Dr. Jennifer Chain, saw that the societal expectation for helpers to give endlessly and emotional labor to be free or cheap is not sustainable or healthy. She saw high burnout and turnover rates in her fellow mental health professionals as well as in clients who are helpers, givers, and fixers in their personal and professional lives. As a creative rebel, she set out to disrupt the status quo and make mental health care better.

Thrive for the People was born in 2017.
